“Mine is not the story of an addict for many years who tried every rehab under the sun for help. Neither had I lost my family or friends. Rather one or two glasses of wine had over time crept up to one, two or even three bottles every day… Wine was numbing my feelings and taking the edge off. After a long time of denial, I realised I needed help. I knew I couldn’t do it on my own. I did my research and decided on Villa Paradiso. Four weeks of therapy and eating properly for the first time in a long time. I honestly couldn’t have picked a better place. It can be intense but there’s also time to lie by the gorgeous pool and recharge the batteries. Matt – the lead therapist – and the team are brilliant. Matt was able to unearth feelings in me that were buried in a haze of wine for a long time and I’m still trying to figure out how he does it. The food is 2nd to none and the villa itself is so serene and calm. The group is small – 5 of us – so there’s no hiding or being overlooked. They also provide aftercare and Matt is always at the end of the phone to listen to any problems and doubts you might have.
All in all the best decision I have ever made both for myself and my family. I’m in a far better place now and really enjoying my clean and sober life. My daughter can’t get over the change in me and how nothing fazes me now.
One phone call is all it takes. It’s never too late and I’m forever grateful that I made it.
